Spirit of Giving 5K

The Modesto Spirit of Giving 5k Run and Walk gives back to the community! The City of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department’s Leisure Bucks program offers financial assistance to low-income children, seniors and individuals with disabilities, giving them access to recreational activities city-wide. Since 2007, the recent economic crisis has stripped funding for this program. The Leisure Bucks program is now privately supported, relying solely on the contributions of citizens and fundraising events such as the Modesto Spirit of Giving.

Additionally, every year the Modesto Spirit of Giving partners with a non-profit in the city of Modesto to raise money for a great cause. This year, Modesto Gospel Mission will benefit from a portion of the run/walk proceeds, as well as the canned food drive. This organization has been providing a place of safety, nutritious meals, hot showers, and warm beds for thousands every year since 1948. Modesto Gospel Mission also distributes clothing and offers programs designed to address the root causes of homelessness (physical, spiritual, emotional, social, education, vocational, and financial). Modesto Gospel Mission receives NO government funding and is not a United Way agency.
